Started a sound & Lighting company in the mid 80's, transitioned to video around 2003, Been traveling extensively for fortune 500 & 100 clients for the past 15 years. Served in Video Department Head roles for national AV companies. Now I focus on Ballroom gigs typically operating E2 or a broadcast switcher. I also do playback, records, graphics, and other typical V1 duties.
3+ decades of troubleshooting, live event, and client satisfaction experience. Still going strong 100+ flights per year to and from shows for clients that always prefer me on their jobs. I've worked in most major venues in the US. International show experience. Experience with very fluid, high pressure, chaotic, or complex events for challenging and high profile clients. One time I was eating lunch on a Sunday afternoon in North Carolina when I got a call to sub in for a tech who suffered a family emergency. I was switching screens for rehearsals that night in New Orleans.
I love clients who let me book my own airfare, do shows in high end hotel venues, and appreciate what I do. Buy my lunch or a drink from time to time. (I know, just being greedy. But I return the favor too.) FYI, I rarely accept work in my local market. I focus on clients who recognize the value in consistent client experiences with techs on their events and are willing to travel operators in.
